Minor Surgery » Newcastle Health - Private GP Clinic

Minor surgery is a term used to refer to surgical procedures that can be done at a GP surgery without the need for a full general anaesthetic. It usually means the removal of lumps, bumps and moles under local anaethesia. All the procedures are undertaken in our purpose built theatre in them clinic.

Dr Kalra is a GP who was previously a surgeon and is also a Harley Street trained aesthetic practitioner and he undertakes all the minor surgery procedures.

What Do We Deal With?

Skin Tags

Skin tags are soft harmless lesions that appear to hang off the skin. They are common lesions that are more likely to develop as one gets older. They are usually skin coloured or can be darker and can range in size from as small as a single millimetre up to 5cm. They are most often found in the skin folds such as the neck, armpits and groin but can be found elsewhere. Whilst they are painless, they can sometimes catch on clothing and some may feel they are unsightly. Skin tags are surgically cut off under local anaesthetic, all done within our theatre at the clinic. Book an initial appointment with us for an assessment and see below for pricing.

Seborrhoeic Keratoses / Seborrhoeic Warts

A seborrhoeic keratosis is a benign lesion that looks very much like a wart. The incidence of developing the lesions increases with age. We can easily remove these lesions within out theatre under local anaesthetic. Book an initial appointment for an in-depth consultation and further explanation as to what we can do for you.

Sebaceous Cyst

A sebaceous cyst forms when a sweat gland becomes blocked and subsequently swells to form a collection under the skin. These cysts are usually painless although they can become red and tender if they become infected. We are well experienced in dealing with excisions of sebaceous cysts which is done in our theatre under local anaesthetic. After we make an incision, we remove the cyst and close it up with a couple of stitches.

Lipomas are fatty lumps found just underneath the skin. These lumps are entirely benign and nothing to worry about. They are painless and cause no problems but some may find them unsightly and want them removed. We can remove lipomas under local anaesthetic in our theatre at the clinic. Please contact us for an initial consultation.

The vast majority of moles are harmless lesions. Occasionally they can be cancerous so our doctor will first make that assessment. If they are concerned it could be a malignant lesion then we can refer you to a consultant dermatologist. Otherwise we can surgically remove the lesion if you would rather have it gone. We make a small incision under local anaesthetic around the mole, remove it and close it with some stitches. Book an appointment for your initial assessment.
