Menopause Management and HRT

The menopause and perimenopause typically presents with symptoms such as hot flushes, mood swings, anxiety, brain fog, dryness down below as well as irregular periods prior to cessation of periods. The menopause effects all women differently but it can have a significant impact on a persons life.

There are various treatment options for menopause and perimenopause, the main one being hormone replacement therapy (HRT) which involves administering oestrogen and normally also progesterone to bring the levels of those hormones back up to pre menopausal levels. These hormones can be administered in tablet form, as well as skin patches, gels and sprays.

HRT on the whole is a safe and effective treatment for the majority of women who are looking for help with menopausal symptoms. Like any medication, there are potential side effects and risks that are important to understand as well as the significant benefits.

If you are interested in considering HRT or want to explore some of the other treatment options available then book an appointment with our GP to further discuss how we can best manage your current symptoms.
