PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet rich plasma is a technique where we draw 4 small bottles of blood from the patients arm and place that blood in a centrifuge. This splits the blood up into into its different compartments, separating the blood plasma from the red and white blood cells.
Blood plasma is rich in various growth factors that aid repair and regeneration, stimulating hair follicles to improve hair growth, resulting in visibly thicker looking hair.
The scalp is then anaesthetised with local anaesthetic before the blood plasma is then re-injected superficially into the scalp, in order to bathe the hair follicles with with plasma soloution. The process takes approximately 40 minutes and we would normally recommend a series of three treatments with 4-6 intervals between each session.
PRP is both safe and effective, with lots of medical research studies proving the potential benefits of PRP treatment for hair.
